Start early at Hiroshima Station with a Japanese or English-speaking guide such as Naomi, Nana, Mimi, or Michiyo. Walk through Hiroshima Toshogu Shrine and Kinko Inari Shrine, climb about 500 steps to the Peace Pagoda, then pause for forest bathing and a relaxed outdoor matcha ceremony with views toward Hiroshima, the Seto Inland Sea, and Miyajima.

“Nana was my guide and I had an enjoyable tour of a local Shrine and tea ceremony with an excellent view of the city. I thought the bathing ceremony was a swim after a hike but was instead a sensory meditation session, which was a pleasant experience if you give it a go. I had a few questions that couldn't be answered about the Shrine or worship habits, which could benefit having a priest or Shrine worker help with. I enjoyed the hike and it wasn't too hard. It was a pleasant morning with a few spots for great photo opportunities. I would recommend giving this a go.”
